Grand Old Building

There’s a grand building on Letitia Street, North Hobart, Tasmania that I’ve always admired.  It used to be a high school but now a funeral business owns it.  I’m glad that they didn’t chisel off ‘High School’ from the front of it.

Tonight, in a spur of the moment decision, I decided to have a crack at sketching it.  As always, it’s more complicated than it looks!! The ink in my ink pen was frustratingly not flowing well, so I switched to an Artline pen. Didn’t get as much done as I would have liked but here’s what I did get done.

Thanks for visiting.  Take care.

  1. Very impressive! I was longing to sketch the beautiful buildings on my Europe trip last year, I saw so many artists doing the same. Unfortunately straight lines and angles are too challenging for me! Also the focus required l! It’s not an easy task! You did great!

  2. Thanks, Blossom. Angles and perspective are really challenging but it has to get easier with practice, doesn’t it???!! Hard to believe it could… but one has to remain hopeful. Wonky lines adds to the charm of a picture, I think. Thanks for your comment 🙂
