Midway Point

We’re midway through the Inktober Challenge so I thought I would have a review of what has been drawn so far, in Hobart, Tasmania, rather than discuss Midway Point, Tasmania. https://landsalestasmania.com.au/local-attractions-the-peninsula-at-midway-point

Come Dream with Me

About 7 years ago, when I was in Sweden, sitting on a stool in a hotel, wearing my nightie and a knitted rabbit hat with floppy ears, I caught a glimpse of myself in a hallway mirror and it intrigued me, so I drew a quick sketch of myself. This gave birth to a host of ideas that have been whirring around in my head for many years, one of them being, “Come Dream with Me”.

I delivered “Come Dream with Me” to the Long Gallery, Salamanca Place, Tasmania, for The Art Society of Tasmania Inc 138th Members’ Exhibition. The exhibition will be running from Saturday, July 30th through to Sunday, August 7th from 10 am – 4 pm daily.

I look forward to attending the opening night, catching up with fellow artists and seeing the fabulous work on display.

Thank you for reading and following me. I look forward to sharing my next painting with you soon.

Until then, take care, Patricia (PJ) Hopwood-Wade

Whale with a Difference

I’ve finished painting this humpback whale. I’m leaving it floating on a white background. Unfortunately, my camera has not been able to pick up the subtle turquoise and hints of other colours that I have dropped in while painting wet-in-wet.

Humpback Whale painted with water colour paints

This is the next whale I am working on. I have plans for it. It’s going to be different than the one above in more ways than one. I’m not going to leave it floating on a white background. Stay tune for the unfolding of the background for this whale… it’s going to take weeks, if not months, but hopefully it will be worth the wait, and hopefully there’s even some anticipation. 🙂 lol

there’s a fair bit of turquoise and raw sienna in this painting that my camera hasn’t picked up.

Well, I hope that life has been a dreamy day for you today and that you feel as relaxed as our whales. Wishing you an awesome weekend.

Cheers, Patricia (PJ)

Cruel

Inktober’s prompt word for today is “cruel”.  It’s cruel how our waterways and oceans have become a tangled mess of plastic and rubbish choking animal and sea life.

Where do I go?! How can I escape from this mess?!

Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
